The general public has been called upon to be cautious riding on tricycles on Kano roads and also be quick at reporting suspicious persons.
The call was made by the Managing Director of Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) Bappa Babba Dan Agundi in a statement on Tuesday following the arrest of a duper by personnel of the agency.
The statement explained how the personnel of the agency arrested one John Bandes who specializes on duping his customers.
More so, he mentioned that he is part of a syndicate that operates between Kano and Abuja.
“The Kano Road and Traffic Agency, KAROTA has arrested one John Bandes who specializes in duping his customers.
“The 45 years old who uses a tricycle with registration number ‘RRN 231QA, FGE 19-0849 was arrested on Obasanjo Street after personnel of the agency tracked him down following a complaint against him.
“About a week ago, a lady, Jenifer Paul approached the agency with a complaint that a tricyclist duped her the sum of N600,000 which led to his arrest.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime and also revealed that he is not alone in the act.
“According to him, the syndicate which has been operating in the past six months, operates between Kano and Abuja.
“KAROTA investigations further revealed that the suspect uses a substance to hypnotize his victim before carting away their money or other valuables.
“It was also discovered that John, has been a wanted suspect by the police before his arrest and has been handed over to the Badawa Police Station for further investigations” part of the statement signed by Public Relations Officer (PRO) Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Nai’sa says.
