The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Sa’ad Abubakar III, has directed Muslim Ummah to look out for the new Moon of Rabi Al-Thani 1444AH, effective from Tuesday.
Rabi Al-Thani is the fourth month in the Islamic calendar that comes after the month of Rabi Al-Awwal in which majority of Muslims celebrate Maulid.
The Sultan gave the directive in a statement signed by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, on Monday.
“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Oct. 25, which is equivalent to 29th day of Rabi Al-Awwal 1444AH, shall be the day to look out for the new moon of Rabi Al-Thani 1444AH.
“Muslims are, therefore, requested to start looking for the new moon on Tuesday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan,’’ he said.
The Sultan further prayed Allah to assist the Muslim Ummah in the discharge of their religious duties.
