The Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir is dead.
A source in the palace confirmed the death to Daily News 24.
The Late Emir is said to have died at his Palace in Gaya due to ill-health.
Gaya Emirate is one of the four new emirates established by the Ganduje Government.

Creation of Gaya, other Emirates
The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has signed into law the bill he sent to the state House of Assembly on Monday to create four new emirates.
The governor signed the bill at a special ceremony at Government House on Thursday, which the state lawmakers unanimously passed.
The new law sought new emirates and first-class emirs in Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Bichi. This will give the State five emirates, including the Kano Emirate.
The state House of Assembly had approved and passed the 2019 Kano Emirate Council Bill earlier in the day and instantly transmitted it to the governor.
The passage followed the third reading and consideration by the whole committee during the sitting of the House presided over by the speaker, Abdulaziz Gafasa.
During the plenary session, the speaker said the House decided to pass the bill because of its importance.
According to him, the new emirates will facilitate the active participation of rural dwellers in governance.
The new bill was approved by the state executive council and presented to the lawmakers on Monday, following the nullification of Kano Emirs Appointment and Depositions Amendment Laws 2019 by Justice Usman Na’Allah of the state high court.
Gaya
Gaya is the oldest and most important site in Kano’s history and precedes the foundation of Kano itself. Gaya is believed to be the origin of Kano’s man, who first settled in the present Kano State searching for ironstone.
The earliest known settlers of Kano were known as “Abagayawa”. Gaya served as an important terminus of a migratory corridor through which there was an influx of immigrating peoples, mainly from Eastern Sudan, the Maghrib and the Middle East.
Bagauda and his people were said to have passed through Gaya before making their way to Dala and establishing the Kingdom of Kano in 999 CE. Gaya was soon absorbed into the newly founded Kingdom by its adventurous new rulers and would become one of the most influential provinces in the State.
