At least four bandits have been eliminated in Kastina-Ala Local Government Area (LGA) by troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), a special task force outfit of Benue State.

POLITICS NIGERIA learnt that the gun duel happened on Tuesday.

Security operatives stationed in Gbise, under Kastina-Ala LGA, were carrying out their normal clearance tour when they encountered the daredevil bandits at Tse-Keji area.

During an exchange of gunfire, the bandits reportedly fled into the bush, but the soldiers pursued them, resulting in the killing of four of the lawbreakers.

The troops recovered one barrel of dane gun, two motorcycles, mobile phones, bags of Indian hemps, N57,390, charms, among others.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the leader of the bandits, one Terna Gide, is threatening to take revenge soon.

There is heightened banditry activities in the northern part of Nigeria, with government across all levels finding it hard to effectively tackle the crime.
