The President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, joined members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the Christian community and clergymen in Nigeria and abroad to celebrate the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on the occasion of his 80th birthday today (Wednesday).

Buhari’s message was contained in a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, titled, ‘President Buhari rejoices with Pastor E. A. Adeboye on his 80th birthday’.

Adesina stated, “President Buhari felicitates the wife, Pastor Foluke Adeboye, family members, friends and relations as the General Overseer turns an octogenarian with clear evidence of walking the path of a righteous man by dedicating his life to the service of God and humanity.

“The President recalls his private and public meetings with the renowned preacher and teacher of the Bible over many years; most remarkably the visit when he, in 2017, was recuperating in London. The President appreciates Pastor Adeboye’s warmth and friendliness, which he also extends to leaders and others from all walks of life.”

On the cleric’s 80th birthday, Buhari said he believed that Adeboye’s contributions to the betterment of Nigeria and other countries stood out clearly as testimonies of his divine calling, impacting greatly on education, health and infrastructural development, including many urban and rural roads.

The President saluted the focus of the RCCG leader on works of the kingdom and peace for the nation, praying that his path would be like a shining light, with grace for good health and strength.

Similarly, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has described Adeboye as a global icon and an inspiration for millions of people around the world.

The National President, PFN, Bishop Wale Oke, disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement issued by his Media Director, Simbo Olorunfemi.

Oke said, “Not only do you (Adeboye) stand out for your humility, your unwavering commitment to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, almost 30 years after you left office as the National President, is worthy of commendation. We salute you for consistently supporting the PFN through the years, always ready to offer the much-needed support and advice at all times.

“Your impact in the over 40 years of your leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is evident across all the continents and many generations, making you a global icon and one of the most influential people in the world, of whom we are proud.

“Our prayer is that God will continue to keep you strong and healthy to continue to serve as an inspiration to millions all over the world within and outside the Christian fold.

“We wish you many more returns of the day as you continue to make an impact in the lives of many across continents and generations, advancing the Christian faith, to the glory of God.”
