President Muhammadu Buhari has rejoiced with pioneer Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hospital, Abuja, Prof. Abayomi Durosinmi-Etti, on his 75th birthday, Jan. 11, 2023.

In a statement by his media aide, Mr Femi Adesina, on Tuesday in Abuja Buhari congratulated the renowned medical doctor and researcher.

He lauded the professor for committing more than five decades to improving health services in Nigeria, and many parts of the world.

The president also saluted Durosinmi-Etti for dedicating his life and career to the betterment of people’s heath, especially in unravelling challenging health conditions like cancer.

This, he said, saw Durosinmi-Etti taking up appointment with the United Nations, International Atomic Energy Agency (AEA) in Vienna, Austria as Radiotherapy Specialist responsible for the worldwide activities of the IAEA in Cancer Radiotherapy.

Durosinmi-Etti was the first full Professor of Radiation Therapy and Oncology in Nigeria and former Chairman of the National Consultative Committee on Cancer Control.

Buhari commended Durosinmi-Etti’s willingness to always accept the nation’s call to service, and sacrificing his time and talent to ensure specialty in more than 45 developing nations, cutting across Africa, Asia, Pacific, South America and others.

The president joined family members, friends, and associates of the scholar in thanksgiving and rejoicing for the grace of wisdom, brilliance, and exceptional service to humanity.

He prayed for God’s mercy and favour on Durosinmi-Etti and his family.
