Anguish, sadness, and agony were the moods in Ramat hostel in the early hours of Tuesday, as students woke up to discover that Mercy Sunday had given up the ghost over the night as she struggled with a brief illness shortly before she died.

Mercy Sunday was a level 400 student of Bayero University Kano, studying Political Science, and was said to have reported her illness to the school’s clinic before her demise.

Shamudeen Umar, Dean of Students Affairs in the University who confirmed the sad incident said she died of natural causes and had been treated after she visited the clinic but later died on in the early hours of Tuesday.

While her remains have been deposited in the mortuary, her roommates as well as course mates have been in shock over the sad demise of their friend and colleague.
