Gov. Mai-Mala Buni of Yobe has lifted the ban on the use of motorcycles in seven Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by retired Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam. the Special Adviser on Security Affairs to Buni.

”The ban on motorcycles is hereby lifted with effect from March 6, in Bursari, Damaturu, Geidam, Gujba, Gulani, Tarmuwa and Yunusari.
“The ban is lifted with the following conditions: motorbikes are to operate between 6a.m. and 6p.m. daily.
”Motorbikes are not to be used for commercial purposes. There will be no conveyance of passengers on motorbikes.
”Only one rider will be allowed without any other person on the motorbike. There should be proper registration, licencing, and documentation of all motorbikes and riders in the affected LGAs by the Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA) and the Yobe State Vehicle Licencing Authority.”
The state government also directed that motorbikes are to operate within their respective LGAs only.
“There would be no inter-local government area movement. Anyone found violating this condtion would be appropriately sanctioned.
“All security agencies are requested to monitor and ensure strict compliance with these directives,”, the state government said.
