A carpenter, Bernard Abah was on Thursday docked in an Upper Area Court, Karu, Abuja, for alleged attack on officials of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company(AEDC)
The police charged Abah, 44, of Waru village, Apo, Abuja with criminal intimidation, criminal force, to deter public servant from discharge his duty.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Ade Adeyanju, told the court that the matter was reported at the Karu Police station by Friday Polycarp an attachee with AEDC Karu, Abuja.
Adeyanju told the court that the complainant and other AEDC officials on Oct. 26 went into a compound near National Park quarters, Karu to carry out their duties.
He alleged that the defendant came and attacked them with cutlass and threatened to cut off their legs.
Adeyanju alleged that in the process of argument, the defendant carried the complainant out of the compound and pushed him with all his powers thereby causing internal pains on him after he was rescued by neighbours.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 397b, 267 and 252 of the Penal Code.
The prosecutor said that during  investigation, the defendant confessed to the crime but pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Mr Hassan Mohammed, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with one surety who must live within the court jurisdiction.
Mohammed ordered that the address of the surety, means of identity and statement of account be verified by an officer of the court.
He also ordered that the defendant should write an undertaken for good behaviour.
Mohammed adjourned the case until Dec. 13 for mention.
