The governor of the Central bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has advocated for the formation of a formidable partnership between the public and private sectors to boost health care services, adding that the partnership will forestall future crises that could pose a threat to the global economy, such as Covid-19.
Emefiele in a message delivered on his behalf by Jahman Anikulapo, at the showcasing of a film with the theme “Unmasked, Trust and leadership, During The Covid-19 in Nigeria held at the Department of Mass Communication, Bayero University Kano, BUK last Thursday, sponsored by Mac Arthur Foundation and CBN, Emefiele said “ CBN notes the strong linkage between health care and economic growth as evidenced by the impact on the covid-19 pandemic on Nigeria and indeed the world.
“In order to prevent future health crises that could have spillover effects on our economy, it is important that the public and private sector work to improve access to health care, support research, and development in the health sector.
According to him, it is pertinent to carve ways to spread information that would create awareness on useful global health cares approach, “and find ways to disseminate useful information on health care to the general public.
He reassured that the Central Bank of Nigeria will not desist from supporting projects that are in need of finance to boost health care services in Nigeria.
In his words “on our part, the CBN remains committed to working with all stakeholders in improving access to finance and credit that would support the development of a viable health care infrastructure in our country.
“The CBN, therefore commends the extensive works that had been undertaken by the producers of the film, namely Kadaria Ahmed and Femi Odugbemi.
Emefiele further urged for the heightened in the showcasing of a vital aspect of information that is required for the progress of any society, which is critical in the development of a robust health care system that can cater for all Nigerians.
