Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has revealed that he exchanged pleasantries with Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi after his team defeated the La Liga giants 4-1 in the Champions League round of 16 first leg tie earlier this week in Spain.
Pochettino also said that he didn’t have any discussion with Messi about the 33-year-old’s future at Barcelona amid interests from PSG.
Messi’s contract at Barcelona will expire at the end of the season, and PSG are the frontrunners for the Argentine captain’s signature.
Messi and Pochettino did cross paths immediately after the full-time whistle at Camp Nou, but the PSG boss is now saying that they only said ‘hello and goodbye’.
“With Messi, we just said hello and goodbye,” Pochettino told Spanish outlet Tot Costa de Catalunya, as reported by Sport.
“We did not talk about his future.”
Meanwhile, Barcelona legend, Rivaldo, has since urged Messi to leave his club for PSG when his contract expires this summer.
“His [Messi’s] future will be PSG, even more so given his display at the Camp Nou. They are a team that can give him the option of continuing to win trophies.”
