Residents of Shanono area of Rigasa community in Igabi Local Government Area of the state discovered another Improvised Explosives Device (IED) on Friday.

The device was detected 24 hours after an IED concealed in a bucket was found in the community.

The device, which was found on Thursday, was deactivated by the state anti bomb squad and no casualty was recorded.

A resident, Tijjani Umar, said that children in the community discovered Friday’s object in a jerry can covered with a black nylon.

He said it was placed very close to a stream in the community.

“It was kept at the same spot where the Thursday IED was discovered. We don’t know what is happening in this community. It was my elder’s brother wife that rushed to inform me that the children found another bomb inside Jerrycan,” he said.

Spokesman of the State Police Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the discovery, saying anti-bomb squad team were mobilised to the area.

“The area has been cordoned off so as to protect the people from getting hurt while our men are there to defuse the device,” he said.

He urged people to be more vigilant wherever they are in the state.
