The death of late chief of Army Staff General Ibrahim Attahiru will remain ever fresh in the minds of Nigerians particularly his immediate family, but while the country and the military morns his passing away his burial had generated needles talks, with others alleging careless handling of the situation by the Minister of Defence General Salisu Magashi.
In his defence of the Defence Minister, the 19th emir of Gwandu HRH Rtd Major Almustapha Haruna Jokolo has lashed out at the critics of Defence Minister during the burial at the military cemetery in Abuja, in his submission the monarch said he is deeply saddened by the way some media outfits in the country gave the whole thing or the perceived reaction of Defence Minister ethnic colouration.
He added that Magashi is an educated person, not an illiterate he attended Barewa college and many others schools before joining the NDA at regular 7 when Jokolo joined him at regular 5.
He explained further that late Attahiru and other generals who died in the plane were there on Magashi’s recommendation to President Muhammadu Buhari and he taught most of them at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna state his words “Defence Minister was visibly shaken when he saw the corpses and widow of late chief of army staff with her son, he even tried holding back his tears, I am not happy people are making an issue out of nothing.
He prayed to Allah to forgive the departed souls and give the family fortitude to bear the loss.
