A 37-year-old man, Musa Abubakar has been remanded by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly receiving a stolen phone worth N180,500.

The accused person allegedly committed the offence in October 2020 in Osogbo.

The prosecutor, ASP Taiwo Adegoke told the court that the accused person received a Samsung Galaxy phone worth N185,000, the property of one Amure Olatunde, known to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

He further said that the phone was collected from the complainant at gunpoint by a yet-to-be-identified gang of armed robbers.

The offence committed contravened section 427 of the Criminal Code CAP 34 vol 11 law of Osun State Nigeria 2002.

However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the allegation levelled against him.

Defence Counsel, Ngwu Renigus prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms.

Magistrate Isola Omisade in his ruling denied the accused person bail and ordered him to be remanded at Ilesa Correctional Center.

He adjourned the case till February 22, 2021, for ruling on bail.
