Nigerian music artist Davido has finally taken down the music video that sparked a wave of controversy and criticism from the Muslim community.

The video, which had sparked intense disapproval among Muslim viewers, was met with a surge of backlash over the course of two days before being removed.

Members of the Muslim community expressed strong concerns about the video’s content, deeming it disrespectful and offensive to their religious beliefs. Of particular concern was the portrayal of Salat (prayer), a sacred practice deeply revered by Muslims as one of the fundamental pillars of Islam.

The portrayal of this important religious practice in a seemingly trivializing manner had ignited anger and disappointment among many viewers.

While the video remained online for two days despite the growing discontent, discussions on social media platforms intensified, with many users voicing their support for the Muslim community’s sentiments.

Twitter users emphasized the significance of religious sensitivity in the realm of art and entertainment, urging artists to be mindful of potential offense when touching upon sacred subjects.

Finally, in response to the mounting pressure and public outcry, Davido took the decision to delete the contentious video.

In the backdrop of this controversy is the tweet from Bashir Ahmad, the former Media Aide to President Buhari, who had also expressed his concerns about the video’s content.

Ahmad’s tweet further amplified the discussions and reactions from the Muslim community prompting a broader conversation about artistic expression and religious sensitivities.
