The Department of State Services (DSS) on Saturday invited the kogi state governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ahmed Usman Ododo, ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State.

According to information obtained by Daily News 24, Ododo was invited to the DSS office in response to a petition filed against him by members of the opposition party in the state.

The nature of the allegations was not disclosed by Kingsley Fanwo, the spokesperson for the Kogi State Government, who confirmed the event on his social media page.

Fanwo, however, dismissed the allegations as “frivolous and unfounded,” emphasizing that Ododo willingly respected the invitation from the DSS to cooperate with the constituted authority.

Kingsley Fanwo was present with the APC governorship candidate during the investigation at the DSS office.

Ododo underwent hours of questioning by a team of DSS operatives, during which he provided convincing explanations to the interrogators, as stated on Fanwo’s Facebook page.

Subsequently, following the thorough interrogation, the DSS operatives allowed Ahmed Usman Ododo to leave the premises.

Fanwo’s post reads:

“The DSS invited him, and as a law-abiding citizen who is aspiring to lead the state, he honoured the invitation.

“The allegations contained in the petition are frivolous and unfounded, but it was incumbent on the APC Governorship Candidate to respect a constituted authority such as the DSS.

“Alh. Ododo was drilled by a team of operatives at the DSS for hours, and he gave convincing explanations to the interrogators.

“We commend the professionalism of the DSS and pledge our cooperation to whatever measures taken, or that would be taken to ensure a peaceful Kogi and a peaceful poll in November 2023.

“We assure supporters of the APC GOVERNORSHIP candidate that he has since left the DSS Office to continue his consultations with Kogites ahead of the Guber poll.

“Our commitment to peace and tranquillity is ironcast. Every Kogite and every supporter of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo should endeavour to be peaceful in all their activities towards the election.”
