The Federal Road Safety Corps Command in Kano has warned motorists to avoid reckless driving during the Eid-El-Fitir celebration.
The FRSC made the appeal in a statement signed by CC, Zubairu Mato, Sector Commander, Kano FRSC.
Mato called on motorists to exhibit more patience and resist the temptation to violate stipulated speed limits on all roads in the country.
He added that four ambulances, 23 patrol vehicles, one heavy duty tow truck and other operational equipment were deployed on major routes and highways to facilitate effective smooth operations.
“These are to ensure the free flow of traffic on critical road junctions, safety of lives and properties on highways, the Eid-el- fitr special patrol operations will commence on April 29 to May 4.
“The deployed personnel include 994 regular Marshals and 536 Special Marshals on major routes” The Sector Commander said.
Mato assured that they will ensure safe, smooth vehicular movement, traffic control as well as to give prompt attention to victims of road traffic crashes within the festive period.
According to the statement, ” Station officers in the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State are fully involved too in the operations.
“Outpost, Zebra and Road side clinics located along Kano – Zaria road will work round the clock to ensure safety of lives and properties in the State”,he said in the statement.
The Sector Commander assured motorists of personnel from Sector Command and eight units Commands will be available.
He warned drivers to desist from committing traffic offences such as driving under the influence of alcohol, drug, dangerous overtaking, overloading, over speeding, wrongful overtaking, route violation, under age driving and use of phone while driving.
Public Relations Officer, FRSC Kano, Abdullahi Labaran said, the body is ready to ensure safety and security.
“FRSC has catered 4 ambulances in case of emergencies, we will also clear roads that are blocked with spoilt cars”.
“Our officers will patrol day and night to arrest defaulters who drive recklessly on the road and those who give cars for children to drive”.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Command in Kano State has deployed 1,530 personnel for sallah special operation in the state.
