Chief Adams Makka-Nangba, the District Head of Wakama, Nasarawa State, has urged Nigerians to go back to farm with a view to boosting the nation’s economy.
Makka-Nangba made the call in his palace on Thursday at Wakama, Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area, while addressing newsmen.
He said that if Nigerians embraced agriculture, it would not only provide food but also boost the nation’s economy thereby improving the standard of living of the citizens.
“We are now in the rainy season for farming. I want to call on my people and other Nigerians to go back to farm in order to ensure food sufficiency, boost the nation’s economy and revenue base among other benefits.
“This is considering the importance of agriculture to human and societal development,” he said.
The district head also called on youths and other Nigerians to embrace skills acquisition programmes in order to be self-reliant and contribute their quota to national development.
“I want to use this medium to also call on my subjects and other Nigerians to live peacefully with one another irrespective of their affiliations for development to thrive.
“As the importance of peace to societal development could not be overemphasized.
“As peace is priceless and non-negotiable and it is the necessary requirement for the development of any society.
“We should also continue to see each other as brothers and sisters, we should be law-abiding, respect constituted authorities in our interest and for the overall development of the country,” he added.
He, therefore, called on stakeholders to continue to contribute positively to the development of the area, the state, and the country at large.
Besides, the traditional ruler further urged Nigerians to support government policies and programmes at all times to succeed and to enjoy more dividends of democracy. (NAN)
