The Emir of Gombe, Alh Abubakar Shehu III, has called on farmers to engage in agriculture to accelerate crop production, promote food security and export of agricultural produce.
Abubakar, in a Sallah message, on Monday, said that Gombe was an agrarian state endowed with vast fertile land capable of producing large quantity of food to subtantially cater for the food need of the state and the country at large.
“With this blessing our farmers can produce adequate food for local consumption and export,” he said.
The royal father admonished farmers/pastoralists to eschew violence and embrace dialogue in dispute resolution, adding that farmers and cattle breeders need each other,” he said.

Abubakar also enjoined Muslim faithful to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan by practicing what they learned.
“Be your brothers keepers by extending helping hands to the needy,” the emir urged Muslim.
Also commenting on Eid–el-Fitr celebration, Abubakar Sulaiman, the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly has urged Nigerians to promote peaceful coexistence for sustainable social and economic development of the country.
He said that peaceful coexistence amongst ethnic groups was the panacea to the social security and developmental woes like insecurity.
He enjoined Muslim faithful to sustain the spirit of unity, brotherhood, love, forgiveness and pray beyond the 2022 Eid-el-fitr celebrations, adding that, “those virtues were hallmarks of the month of Ramadan”.
According to him, Nigeria needs sustain unity, love and prayers to surmount challenges bedeviling the country.
“With peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, insecurity, inflation, economic problems and corruption will be things of the past.”
In the same vein, the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Faruq II, stressed that no meaningful development could be achieved without peace.
“You should be conscious and ever willing to support the fight against insecurity in legitimate ways.
“We all need to be ready to help relevant security agencies with report of happenings around our communities to eradicate insecurity.
“The rate at which insecurity is spreading across the northern states and Nigeria at large is disturbing.
“And we all know that insecurity today is the major reason that basic needs are becoming too expensive for ordinary Nigerians,” he said
Also, the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu, lauded the security personnel fighting insecurity to protect lives and property as well as promote peaceful coexistence of in the country.
“Ordinary Nigerians also need to appreciate the strides made by governments in this fight.
“I call on governments at all levels to introduce more schemes that will cushion the suffering and hardship of ordinary Nigerians.
“I urge all citizens to intensify prayers for political leaders to discharge their statutory responsibilities effectively to ensure that peace and development reign in the nation,” he said.
In their seperate remarks, the Emirs of Dass and Jama’are in Bauchi, Alhaji Bilyaminu Othman and Alhaji Nuhu Wabi II, urges security agencies to redouble efforts to end insurgency, banditry and other crimes in the society.
In Jigawa, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhaammad-Sunusi, also enjoined Muslim faithful to pray for peace, unity, prosperity and end to security challenges in the country.
He also admonished the people to seek forgiveness from Allah, do good deeds and seek for divine intervention to overcome social, economic and security challenges in the country.
“I use this opportunity to warn district, ward heads and others to be vigilant and report suspicious individuals in your domains to nearest security formation,” he said.
The emir further urged those who are yet to register in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to get their Permanent Voter Card, to enable them to exercise their franchise in the 2023 general election.
While urging politicians to ensure violent-free process, the emir urged the people to embrace farming and skills acquisition to enable them to become self reliant and enhance food security.
“I also call on residents to take good care of their surroundings, shun indiscriminate dumping of waste in waterways to avert flooding as rainy season draws nearer.
“Also, husbands should take good care of their families, be kind and sincere to their spouses, ensure proper upbring of their children as Allah will ask about how you treat them in the hereafter.
“Furthermore, parents should stop their children on street hawking without proper monitoring,” he said, and advised motorists and other road users to obey traffick rules in order to avoid road crashes. (NAN)
