The title of Ciroman is deeply rooted in the Kano Emirate’s cultural and political landscape, symbolizing a direct lineage to the throne. It also involves the responsibility of managing certain districts. The Emir’s father, Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, held the title until his death in the 1990s.
The previous titleholder, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, served as Ciroman until he was appointed Emir of Bichi in 2020. He was removed from the throne after four years.
Sanusi’s son, who is a serving police officer with the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), will be turbaned alongside nine others on Friday, November 25, 2024.
Among those to be honored are Mahmud Aminu Yusufu, who will assume the title of Mai Unguwar Mundubawa; Dr. Abubakar Sanusi Usman Shehu II as Dan Galadiman Kano; and Alhaji Abubakar Aminu Sanusi (Wambai), who will serve as Dan Madami.
Other honorees include Architect Ali Muktar, Sa’in Kano; Sarki Yusuf Bayero ‘Yan Daka; Abdullahi Idris Bayero, Fagacin Kano; Ado Abdullahi Aminu, Kaigaman Kano; Idris Sanusi, Sarkin Sullubawa; Mansur Isa Bayero, Sarkin Kudu; and Abdullahi Sarki Mohammed, Sarkin Yamma.
