Arsenal is working on signing Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona this January.
The 29-year-old, signed for £142 million from Liverpool in January of 2018, a record sale for a Liverpool player, is now surplus to requirements at the Catalan club.
Manager Xavi has clarified that Brazil international is not part of his project.

Apart from Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle are also exploring ways to bring him back to the Premier League.
But Sport reports that Coutinho has no interest in joining Newcastle.
Coutinho is Kia Joorabchian, an agent with whom Arsenal has close ties.
Joorabchian helped bring the likes of Willian, Cedric Soares and David Luiz to the Emirates Stadium.
So far this season, Coutinho has scored just two goals in 16 appearances.
Sport believes the 29-year-old will still cost a reasonably high price despite Coutinho’s situation at Camp Nou.
