The Glazers, Manchester United’s owners, have chosen Sir Jim Ratcliffe as their preferred bidder.
Ratcliffe, the founder of Ineos, and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani have been competing to become the new owner of Old Trafford.

The takeover battle has lasted more than five months, with three rounds of bidding to gain control of the club.
The club’s third and final bid was submitted in April to the US bank Raine Group, which has been in charge of the sale.
According to The Sun, the Glazers have chosen the Ineos founder’s bid as their preferred partner, with an official announcement expected “within days.”
Joel and Avram Glazer, members of the Glazer family, will not sell their shares and will remain part of United’s ownership group.
The other four Glazer siblings have decided to sell theirs.
