A popular actress, Fati Nayo Adam aka Kyauta Dillaliya has given reasons why she decided to contest for councillorship election in the upcoming local government elections in Kano state.

Kyauta, a notable actress in Arewa 24’s long-running Dadin Kowa series, spoke exclusively to Daily News 24 on Wednesday.

The actress, who is contesting under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), said she was inspired to join politics and contest for election in order to help her constituents in Dorayi community of Gwale local government area of the state.

“We have so many young men in the community who could not get married and support women because they do not have jobs. I understand that the only way to help people is to join politics,” she said.

“I noticed also that some of these young men have jobs but don’t have houses to accommodate wives. So, I want to buy a piece of land, where single rooms, a toilet and a kitchen would be built and donated to these guys in order to get married and live with their wives.

“I would also support other young men with farmlands and inputs as farming brings wealth. In addition, I would also support women with business capital,” she added.

Ms Kyauta, who claims to be in politics for a longtime, explains that she also wants to support young Almajirai children nd unmarried young girls who roam the streets to beg.

“It is sad to see young children as young as five roaming the streets begging for food. It’s also unfortunate that some of our young girls also roam the streets spending their youth begging and exposing themselves to a lot of danger.

“I am committed to helping these vulnerable groups so they can have decent lives,” she said.

The actress said she was not perturbed by the stigma associated with female politicians in the north as she was not the only woman contesting in the upcoming polls.

“I’ve already bought an expression of interest form. It is not a do or die affair. All I need is for people to support me,” Ms Kyauta said.
