A powerful explosion shook the city of Jos on Tuesday morning, causing widespread panic and sending shockwaves through nearby communities.
The blast reportedly occurred around 10:30 am near the crowded Terminus market area, leaving residents in a state of fear and confusion.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as people fled the area. “I was nearby when I heard a loud bang,” recounted Gyang Buba, a clothes vendor. “I saw people running and screaming. It was terrifying.”
Initial reports suggest several people were injured in the explosion, with unconfirmed sources hinting at possible fatalities. The extent of the damage is still unclear, but witnesses noted significant destruction in the vicinity of the blast.
Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and ambulance teams, quickly arrived at the scene to assist victims and manage the situation.
However, the Plateau State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the incident. Attempts to reach the Command’s spokesman, Alabo Alfred, were unsuccessful as his phone was switched off.
A security source from the police command headquarters in Jos confirmed the incident, revealing that an investigation is underway. “The area has been cordoned off as investigators begin to assess the situation. We are working to determine the cause of the explosion,” the source stated. “We urge calm and assure the public that we will do everything possible to ensure their safety.”
The explosion has heightened security concerns in Jos, a city that has faced periodic violence and unrest in recent years. Residents are now urging authorities to bolster security measures to prevent further incidents.
