Nigerian athlete Favour Ofili was seen crying after finishing 6th in the women’s 200 meters final at the 2024 Olympic Games.
At 21 years old, Ofili had high hopes following a strong performance in the heats and a second-place finish in the quarterfinals behind Julien Alfred.
On August 5, she set a season-best time of 22.05 seconds in the qualifiers, raising hopes for a medal.

However, in the final, Ofili clocked 22.24 seconds, falling short of the podium. The gold medal went to the USA’s Gabby Thomas with a time of 21.83 seconds, while Julien Alfred from Saint Lucia earned silver, and Brittany Brown from the USA took bronze.
Despite the disappointment, Ofili’s performance throughout the competition highlighted her potential and set a promising stage for future events.
