The Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu in Yobe, has matriculated 1,321 new students for the 2020/2021 academic session.
Dr. Usman Kallamu, the Rector of the Polytechnic, performed the ceremony on Thursday in Damaturu.
He said that those matriculated included 928 National Diploma (ND) and 393 Higher National Diploma (HND) students.
“I enjoined you to be very focused on your studies. I believe you will acquire a sound education, which is a sure way for a happy and successful future,’’ he said.
While congratulating the students, Kallamu assured them of adequate security and urged them to report suspicious activities to the authoriies for prompt action.

“Resource inspection in respect of Department of Renewable Energy, Agricultural Technology, Quantity survey, Architecture, Building Technology, Mass Communication have been conducted recently and awaiting National Board for Technical Education.
“Approval will afterward be forward to Joint Admission and Matriculation Board to capture in their portal, paving the way for direct ND admission into the respective departments,” he said.
The rector said that the Polytechnic was undertaking numerous capital projects towards enhancing quality of life on campus.
“Some of ongoing projects are construction of science complex, school of Environmental Studies complex, twin lecture theatre and several tarring of connection road from gate one to gate two among others.
