Rano Air, a Nigerian startup airline, has received full approval from the Federal Government of Nigeria to begin operations.

Bashir Ahmad, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on New Media and Digital Communication, announced this on his Twitter page on Sunday.

He revealed that everything was in place for the airline to begin transporting passengers across the country.

“Rano Air, one of the newest Nigerian airlines, founded in 2019, has received Federal Government approval to operate domestic return flights to/from Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Kaduna, Sokoto, Gombe, Yola, Maiduguri, and Asaba,” he wrote.

Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the A.A. Rano Group and a Kano native, owns Rano Air.

Last month, the airline announced that it had secured four EMB-145LR aircraft to begin operations in 2022.

In addition, the company applied for an Air Transport License (ATL) with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in January (NCAA).

In mid-2020, Rano Air applied to the NCAA for an ATL to operate scheduled and non-scheduled passenger and cargo services within and outside of Nigeria.
