The federal government has inaugurated a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion centre in Gundutse, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.
At the event on Monday, Mr Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, Director General and Chief Executive of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, highlighted that the centre would facilitate CNG conversion and offer training for auto mechanics in the conversion process.

Osanipin revealed that out of the 21 CNG conversion centres planned nationwide, 15 have been fully equipped, with the remaining centres nearing completion. He encouraged trainees to take advantage of the opportunity to learn CNG conversion skills, stressing the need to achieve the goals set for the initiative.
Engineer Magaji Sani, President of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), appealed to the federal government for soft loans to assist members of the association in acquiring essential tools for engine assembly.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka Anite, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to job creation for Nigerian youth. She noted that the establishment of CNG conversion centres across the country demonstrated President Tinubu’s efforts to ease the burden caused by the removal of the fuel subsidy.
Dr Anite also urged Kano residents to embrace the opportunity for skill development and economic empowerment offered by the initiative.
