The Chairman, Progressive Governors’ Forum, and Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, on Thursday, disclosed that both the Federal and Kebbi State Government were working together to bolster efforts, to further safeguard the lives and property of the people of the state.
He also said that such efforts were geared towards restoring normalcy in Dankolo community in Sakaba local Government, Danko Wasagu Local Government, other parts of the state, and Nigeria, in general.
Bagudu spoke when he paid sympathy and condolence visits to the community that was recently affected by the banditry attack.
The governor who was in the area amidst the euphoria of Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebration to sympathize with the residents over the incessant attacks by bandits, infiltrating from the neighboring Niger State, to cause mayhem, resulting in the loss of lives and the disruption of farming activities in the area.
Governor Bagudu lamented that the dastardly act resulted in the unfortunate deaths of a DPO and some security personnel.
Bagudu said:” These plausible measures will remain anonymous for now, but, rest assured that we will leave no stone unturned to guarantee the safety of all law-abiding citizens
“Peace will In shaa Allahu be restored here and all parts of Kebbi state, as soon and all hands must be on deck, as usual.
“I must therefore commend the Federal Government, under President Muhammadu Buhari, security agencies, our vigilantes, traditional and religious leaders, as well as all critical stakeholders.”
Bagudu was also visibly elated that, most of the hitherto internally displaced persons had started returning, climaxing in the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The Kebbi State Governor further assured that the state government will do the needful, for all the residents of the community to return and sleep with their two eyes closed.
He was happy to note that, farmers were already planting in their farms, yet, again depicting the gradual return of peace, just as he urged them to remain steadfast, resilient, and fervently prayerful.
Bagudu said that the visit was aimed at rebuilding the confidence of the residents of the area and other parts of the state.
He assured the residents that he would ensure additional deployment of security in the area to safeguard lives and properties of the people.
The Governor also assured that, the contractor handling the road project linking the community with other parts of the state was not being owed a Kobo.
” The work is happily progressing and in ShaAllahu, it will be completed, for the common good of all the targetted communities,” Bagudu, promised.
Earlier, Senator Bala Ibn Na Allah, representing Kebbi South Senatorial District told the Dankolo Community about the untiring effort of the governor to ensure peace return in the area.
He equally remarked that President Buhari and the federal legislators would not rest until the security challenges of the area and Nigeria, in general, come to an end.
The Senator announced his effort in constructing a hospital in the area.
Some residents of the area expressed happiness and thanked the governor for the sympathy visit at a period of Sallah celebration.
Ibrahim Sawani, Dagacin Alale, a community leader, and the Councillor representing Dankolo ward Shuaibu Marafa, all appreciated the concern of the governor towards their plight.
They said the measures put in place by governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu were yielding positive results as normalcy was gradually returning to the area and those who fled have started returning to their homes.
After leaving Dankolo village, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu with his entourage was also at the Palace of Chiefdom of Sakaba, Alhaji Muhammad Ladan Musa where he reassured the people of the determination of his administration in collaboration with the Federal Government and security agencies to address the security challenges of the area.
He appealed for understanding and cooperation from people to join hands with their leaders and security agencies to deal with the situation.
In his remarks, the Chiefdom of Sakaba, Alhaji Muhammad Ladan Musa thanked the governor for the visit.
He described the governor as a leader full of compassion for his people ‘ We are indeed happy with the visit at this period of Sallah ‘.
‘ This simply demonstrates the kind of leader you are. I have no words to express my thanks to you ‘, he averred.
The traditional leader appealed to the governor to implore the contractor to hasten the completion of the ongoing road project in the area.
The governor and his entourage also visited the Divisional Police Command in Sakaba local Government to commiserate with the Police over the killing of the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Sakaba, Superintendant of Police Abdullahi Jimoh, as well as Inspector Ibrahim Aliyu and seven other policemen, who lost their lives as a result of an attack by bandits recently.
The governor was accompanied among others by Senator Bala Ibn NaAllah, Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Safayanu Garba Bena, Commissioner for Special Duties, Barrister Attahiru Maccido, Special Adviser on Security, rtd Major Garba Rabiu Kamba, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), Chairmen of Zuru, Danko Wasagu and Sakaba Local Government Areas.
