Financial autonomy of the State House of Assembly would pave way for sequential developmental structures across the State.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari stated this while declaring a two day workshop open organised by PERL for Members of the Kano State House of Assembly in Abuja.

Rt Hon Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari said the essence of the workshop is to among other things deepen our understanding as legislators on the Administrative and financial autonomy of the State Legislature as well as the impact of the autonomy to the development of Kano State.

He further stated that the convergence of the Legislators for the workshop would provide a great opportunity for peer learning from the PERL experience and the well versitile resource persons.

He assured the organisers of the workshop that Members of the House would use the opportunity in making Kano a role model in Legislative duties and Legislative activities.

Speaker Chidari then thanks the organisers that is Partnership Engage reforms and learn(PERL) for their untiring support to the House on this highly educative and brainstorming workshop.

In his remarks the team leader of Kano Office of PERL Alhaji Isa Surajo said they are working with the House on Autonomy and Economic development espicially on Education and Health as well as Social Development.

During the opening ceremony of the workshop, series of papers were presented by resource persons bordered on;Core mandate and powers of the House – scene/ Context setting by Barrister Ibrahim Usman of the National Assembly, Concept of Financial Autonomy and overview of Kano State House of Assembly Fund Management Bill by Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe, Preparing the Internal Budget of the House in the Era of Financial Autonomy by Nasir Muhammad, The Concept of Administrative Autonomy and overview of the Kano State House of Assembly Service Commission Law by Mr Ajakaiye Olusanya a former Secretary National Assembly Service Commission.

The Workshop was attended by the Honourable members of the State House of Assembly and the Management Staff of the House.

It is expected that the workshop would add value to the Legislative proceedings, Activities and Process in Kano State.
