A Non-Govermental organization, FollowTaxes through its Transperancy and Accountability in Totality (TinT) and Strengthening Civil Society and Local Engagement (SCALE) project has organized a Media Round table discussion on the domestication of Freedom of Information Act (FOI) in Kaduna State.
The FOI act in Kaduna was drafted and submitted to the Kaduna State House of Assembly by the El-Rufai-led administration in 2017, but yet to see the light of the day.

Speaking during the Round Table discussion organized by FollowTaxes and supported by Palladium, the Project Officer, TinT, Mr. Musa Suleiman said the organization is working to ensure the domestication of the FOI act in the state due to it importance and also will enhance transperancy at all levels.
Suleiman said there are certain impediments to the delay of passage of the bill as observed during their advocacy and engagements with relevant actors, stressed that there is much to be done to ensure quick passage of the bill, hence the need to mobilize Media in other to nfluence the domestication and operationalization in Kaduna state through their reportage.
He however expressed that Kaduna state Governor, Nasiru El-rufai is keen about the quick passage of the bill before his tenure elapse.
Senior Communication and Partnership Lead, TinT, Hajiya Jamila Mohammed Dahiru explained that the objective of the meeting is to increase public support for the enactment of the digital rights and freedom bill in Kaduna state.
She added that it is to promote domestication/operationalization of the Freedom of Information Act in Kaduna State through advocacy activities and stakeholders’ engagement.
