When you appreciate people, they will reciprocate. That is the case with erstwhile Emir of Kano and Tijjaniyya Khalifa of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Muhammadu Sanusi, as he paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at his Manhyia Palace in Ghana.

Expectedly, the visit was highly appreciated.

Otumfuo described Sanusi as an anointed one, adding that through their prayers, Nigeria, Ghana and Africa as a whole, would be blessed.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was accompanied by Abuja National Mosque Chief Imam, Prof Ibrahim Makari; Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul Ramani, who represented the Kumasi Sarki Zongo; the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Mumin and the former Offinso South MP, Ben Abdallah Banda.

Sanusi II was appointed as the new Tijjaniya Khalifa of Nigeria in March 2021. The position was held by his grandfather, the late Emir of Kano, Khalifa Sheikh Muhammadu Sanusi I and recently held by a late business mogul, Alhaji Sheikh Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu.

Alhaji Rabiu died in 2018 and it took the followers and leaders of Dariqatul Tijjianiyya Group four years to find a worthy successor in Sanusi.
