At least four scavengers have been trapped under a building demolished by the Kano government at premises of the famous Daula Hotel.

Daily News24 report that three were rescued, critically injured, and rushed to the hospital, while a body was found in the debris.

Spokesman of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf who comfirmed the number of the rescued victims noted that the operation will continue to zero level.

“Now they are four, and according to eye witnesses, there may be more trapped persons in the debris, so we will have to continue our work”, he said.

In their separate reactions, the Kano Police Commissioner, Usaini Gumel and Managing Director of the state Urban Planning and Development Authority, Ibrahim Yakubu, expressed unhappiness over the incident and called on parents to warn their wards against accessing the various demolished sites in the state.
