Abdullahi Ganduje, Governor of Kano State, has urged the Hausa-Fulani communities in Lagos State to support the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, in the upcoming 2023 election.

Ganduje stated this on Wednesday during a visit to the Arewa communities in the Alaba Rago area of the state with Shettima and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“We are here today with good tidings, and we have brought you good news,” he said. In terms of the Northern part of the country, the Tinubu presidency has already been resolved. We are waiting for Lagosians to come out and vote in support of this.

“In Kano, Asiwaju will receive more votes than in any other state.” We challenge you, Lagosians, to promise us that you will defeat Kano in Tinubu’s choice.”

Shettima stated in his remarks that the 2023 election would be a payback for Tinubu in the North, as he had supported candidates from the region in previous national elections.

“I want to emphasize the significance of the upcoming election.” This is retaliation time for those of us from the North. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has previously supported northern Nigerian candidates for the presidency of Nigeria. President Buhari could not have won the APC presidency in the 2014 and 2015 presidential primaries and subsequent elections without the South-West voting bloc generated by Asiwaju.

“The same thing happened in the 2019 election, and now it’s payback time.” We are honorable people, we should keep our pledge and commitment, and most importantly, we want you to vote for APC. I want you to come out and vote for Babajide Sanwo-Olu for governor.”

The vice presidential candidate also mentioned Tinubu’s sacrifice of personal ambition in order to provide political sanctuary to Northern political figures such as Peoples Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar and former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman Nuhu Ribadu.

“You have seen the good work we are doing in Iba and the infrastructure projects we are delivering in this area,” Sanwo-Olu said. The Lagos-Badagry highway will be finished soon.

“The final stretch towards Okokomaiko will be completed by the end of the year.” The General Hospital in Iba that we are currently constructing will also be completed. We’ll enter Ojo and take Kemberi-Afromedia Road.”

Alhaji Yusuf Badaru, Chairman of Arewa People in Lagos, said in his response on behalf of the community that the Hausa people in Lagos remained committed to the cause of the APC and would double their efforts to ensure the party’s candidates in the state were elected.
