The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has refuted claims circulating on social media that he plans to contest for the presidency in the 2027 election with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as his running mate.

A poster featuring Ganduje in blue Babariga and Uzodimma in white attire with a red cap, labeled โ€œThe Winning Team 2027. Vote APC 2027. For Nigerians, prosperity and human development,โ€ has been making the rounds online.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Edwin Olofu, in Abuja on Sunday, Ganduje dismissed the poster as a malicious piece of fake news designed to create tension between him and President Bola Tinubu. The former Kano State Governor emphasized that the claim is entirely false and urged the public to ignore it.

“This is to inform the general public that the poster currently circulating on social media, claiming that the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, is contesting for the presidency in 2027 with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as his running mate, is entirely false and a malicious piece of fake news,โ€ the statement reads.

The APC also attributed the false claims to mischief-makers, possibly linked to the Kwankwassiyya movement, seeking to drive a wedge between Ganduje and President Tinubu. Ganduje reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu, stating that he is committed to supporting the Presidentโ€™s vision and believes Tinubu is guiding Nigeria on the right path toward unity and prosperity.
