Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has called the people in the state to remain calm and desist from engaging in any act capable of shattering the prevailling peace  government has long worked for in the state.

He therefore called the people particularly the youth to work towards maintaining the harmonious and peaceful coexistence between the diverse ethnic nationalities living in Kano.

In a statement issued by the commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba in the wake of clahes between Hisbah personnel and irate youth in Sabon Gari area of the metropolis, Tuesday night, the governor warned the people not to capitalise on the situation to perpetrate violence capable of throwing the state into chaos.

He appealed for synergy between various arms of security in the state and apprised that security operatives would not shy away from confronting threats to peace, law and order even if it means taking hard decisions that will better common good and public interest.

‘’As a government working for the peace, security, unity and progress of the state, we will not toy with our constitutional and statutory responsibility,’’  the statement added.

While the statement maintaining that government, security agencies and people of conscience would continue to work for peace, law, and order, it also called security operatives to always be civil in the discharge of their responsibilties.

It further appealed to the people be law abiding and support security agencies in maintaining the prevailing peace in the state.
