Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has commenced the payment of the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage to state employees.

This development has been confirmed by multiple sources, including state workers, who have praised Governor Fintiri for honoring his commitment.

In July, President Bola Tinubu signed the Minimum Wage bill into law, concluding extensive negotiations with organized labor.

Despite concerns from many governors about the feasibility of implementing the increased wage due to economic constraints, Governor Fintiri has emerged as one of the first state leaders, alongside Lagos and Edo states, to enact the new minimum wage.

Workers in Lagos and Edo states have already been receiving the minimum of N70,000 monthly.

In Adamawa, while state workers have begun receiving the new wage, local government employees are expected to start benefiting from the increased salary in September.
