The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba as the Technical Adviser for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
The announcement was made by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, with the appointment taking effect from September 28, 2024.

Governor Yusuf highlighted Dr. Magashi’s extensive experience in public service, describing him as a dedicated leader committed to uplifting underserved communities in Kano. “Dr. Magashi’s impressive track record in development work makes him a pivotal figure in our administration’s mission to alleviate poverty and provide humanitarian support,” the governor stated.
With over 30 years in the field, Dr. Magashi is highly respected for his impactful contributions. He has held key positions, including Chair of the AMG Foundation and leader of the Health Policy and Planning Committee for the Nigerian Medical Association. He also played a vital role as the founding coordinator of the Kano State Cancer Care Center.
Dr. Magashi’s strategic insights were crucial during his tenure as Chairman of the health transition committee, where he collaborated with Governor Yusuf to shape a transformative healthcare agenda for the state. Additionally, he led the technical team that developed the governor’s campaign blueprint in 2022.
Governor Yusuf expressed confidence in Dr. Magashi’s ability to drive impactful strategies for the ministry, noting his perseverance and commitment to service.

Earlier, Daily News 24 reported how Super Eagles captain and Kano Pillars star, Ahmed Musa, was appointed as the Sport Ambassador for Kano State by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Expressing his gratitude, Musa took to his X handle to share his excitement about the new role. “I am deeply honoured to be appointed as the Sports Ambassador for Kano State!” he wrote.
He continued, “This opportunity is quite humbling, and I’m excited to work towards empowering the youth and promoting sports development across the state. Kano has a rich sporting heritage, and I can’t wait to contribute to building a brighter future for our athletes and communities.”
