Governor Yusuf revealed that he has received a report from a committee assessing the performance of cabinet members. He stated that the public would soon be informed of the government’s next steps based on the report.
However, the governor noted that his personal experiences and interactions with the cabinet over the past one and a half years have given him a clear understanding of their capabilities, suggesting that he will make the final decision independently.
“None of the current commissioners lobbied for their positions,” Governor Yusuf emphasized, adding, “Before their appointments, I considered their experience, credibility, and sought advice from various quarters.” He further stated, “What I expect from the commissioners is obedience to my directives, loyalty to the NNPP, and dedication to the Kwankwasiyya Movement, as well as a commitment to initiate projects for the state’s development.”
Addressing poverty alleviation efforts, Governor Yusuf highlighted the ongoing distribution of foodstuffs to residents in both urban and rural areas. This initiative aims to mitigate the impact of the recent fuel subsidy removal. He assured that this assistance would continue, helping thousands of underprivileged citizens access basic necessities.
The governor also spoke about efforts to boost agricultural productivity, revealing that the Kano State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), which supplies fertilizers to farmers, is undergoing an upgrade. This enhancement aims to ensure a sufficient supply of fertilizers, thereby increasing food production.
Additionally, Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s focus on women and youth empowerment. He disclosed that every month, 52,000 women and youths across Kano State receive N50,000 each to start small businesses and achieve self-reliance.
