Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has inaugurated critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of rural communities in the state.
These projects, funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) through the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP), include the construction of two major roads and the modernization of the Dambatta Cattle Market.

The governor laid the foundation for the construction of the Dambatta–Diggol road in Dambatta Local Government Area and the Wasai–Baita road in Minjibir Local Government Area. The combined cost of these road projects is N2.16 billion, covering a total length of 15.077 kilometers. The governor also commissioned the Dambatta Cattle Market, one of five cattle markets in the state that have been reconstructed and upgraded at a total cost of N340 million.
Governor Yusuf highlighted that these infrastructure projects are part of a broader effort to enhance the agro-pastoral systems in Kano. “For years, residents of these communities have faced significant challenges due to poor road conditions, which have hindered their ability to transport farm produce, access healthcare, and obtain education services,” he stated. “The construction of these roads will not only alleviate these hardships but also generate multiple socio-economic benefits.”
Regarding the upgraded cattle markets, the governor emphasized the importance of modernizing livestock trade in the state. The markets have been equipped with loading ramps, watering facilities, office spaces, security posts, veterinary services, public conveniences, and solar lighting to enhance security and facilitate trade at night.
“These improvements will not only boost livestock trade but also create job opportunities for local residents,” Governor Yusuf said, adding that the initiative aligns with his administration’s broader development roadmap.
He expressed his deep gratitude to the IsDB and LLF for their financial support, urging beneficiaries to make the most of the new infrastructure and empowerment programs provided by the government.
Representing the local communities, the District Head of Dambatta, Alhaji Mansur Mukhtar, conveyed appreciation to the state government for its commitment to bringing development closer to the people.
