Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has announced automatic employment for graduates of the state’s foreign postgraduate scholarship programme, emphasizing their role in advancing critical sectors of the state’s economy.

The governor made this announcement on Saturday while formally welcoming 150 scholarship beneficiaries who recently completed their master’s degrees at prestigious international universities.

According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi DawakinTofa, the students arrived at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport at 12:55 pm and were received by the governor, his deputy, and other senior government officials.

The graduates are part of the administration’s 1000+1 Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme and were drawn from various institutions, including Sharda University in India, where 150 students studied. Other beneficiaries included 98 from Mewar University, 58 from Symbiosis University, 30 from Kalinga University, 29 from SR University, 23 from Swarnim University, and 33 from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU).

At a reception held at the Government House, Governor Yusuf praised the graduates for their dedication and academic excellence, emphasizing the programme’s importance in building human capital.

“The foreign scholarship initiative has equipped our young talents with advanced skills to drive progress across critical sectors,” he said.

To address skill shortages in essential sectors, Yusuf announced automatic employment for graduates in fields such as engineering, medicine, pharmacy, and other health-related disciplines.

“This initiative is part of our mission to empower the youth and build a prosperous future for Kano State. We are proud of your achievements and are confident that you will contribute immensely to our development agenda,” the governor added.

Governor Yusuf further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining the foreign postgraduate scholarship programme, calling it a flagship initiative aimed at providing international exposure and advanced training for Kano’s brightest minds.

“The programme will continue to provide international exposure and advanced training for Kano’s brightest minds, ensuring the state remains on the path of progress,” he said.

It is noteworthy that Governor Yusuf recently visited Indian universities hosting Kano postgraduate students to assess their academic progress and strengthen institutional partnerships.
