Unveiling the proposal on Friday in Kano, Governor Yusuf outlined that the budget comprises N312 billion for capital expenditure and N236 billion for recurrent expenditure. He noted that the capital-to-recurrent expenditure ratio stands at 57:43.

“The majority of the capital spending, amounting to N461 billion, will focus on the Social and Economic Sectors,” the governor stated.

He emphasized the importance of education, allocating N168 billion to the sector, which represents 31% of the total budget. This allocation surpasses the recommendations by UNESCO and the United Nations, underlining the government’s commitment to enhancing education quality at all levels. Additionally, the Health Sector received N90 billion, accounting for 16.5% of the budget.

Further breakdown of the budget includes N21 billion (3.83%) for the Agricultural Sector and N70 billion (12.87%) for Infrastructure Development. The governor also earmarked N23 billion (4%) for Security, Justice, and Emergency Services, and N27 billion (4.96%) for Water Supply and Rural Development.

Governor Yusuf called on the legislators to expedite the budget’s passage to facilitate the continued delivery of democratic dividends to the people.

In response, Speaker of the Assembly, Jibrin Falgore, assured the governor of a swift passage of the budget. He praised the administrationโ€™s ongoing efforts in enhancing infrastructure, security, health, and education, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a January to December budget cycle.
