The reappointment of Emir Abdulkadir came after the reinstatement of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi. Governor Yusuf, while issuing the Staff of Office, urged the Emir to lead by example and to represent his people with integrity.
Describing the Emir of Gaya as a man of “integrity, simplicity, and honesty,” the governor emphasized the importance of upholding the values expected from the position. “I am confident that the Emir will continue his father’s legacy, upholding social justice in accordance with the teachings of Islam,” Yusuf said.
Emir Abdulkadir succeeded his late father, Ibrahim Abdulkadir, who passed away on September 22 at the age of 91.
