Kano state Governor Abba Yusuf has removed Sani Dambo as the Executive Chairman of Kano State Internal Revenue Services (KIRS).

Daily News 24 reports that Governor Yusuf announced this in a statement on Wednesday issued by his spokesperson Sanusi Bature.

Mr Bature said Mr Dambo has been redeployed as a Special Adviser to Governor Yusuf on Investment.

The statement said Mr Dambo has been replaced at the KIRS by Zaid Abubakar who would serve as its new chairman.

According to the statement, the governor also approved the appointment of Kassim Ibrahim as the Executive Director of the KIRS board.

Both appointments are expected to take effect immediately, the statement added.

Profile of Zaid Abubakar, new KIRS chairman

The new Chairman of the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) Dr. Zayd Abubakar holds a doctorate degree in Accounting from Al-Madina International University, (MEDIU) in Malaysia.

He is an alumnus of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a Bsc. in Accounting and Msc. Accounting and Finance.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) UK, a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Mr Abubakar was also a lecturer in the department of Accounting at Ahmadu Bello University and a Tax Auditor at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
