The new promise of the app was a better user interface for customers.
With the release of the new app, the bank informed customers that support for the previous version of GTWorld will be phased out by August 12.
Several GTBank customers notified stated that the new banking app is not working and that they are unable to carry out financial activities.
A journalist in Kano who pleads anonymity while speaking with Daily News 24 also narrated his ordeal saying: “The GTBank’s Mobile App Upgrades on its own and since yesterday I couldn’t have access. It is indeed terrifying as I couldn’t make any transaction and who knows when the bank will fix it?”
He continued, “two days ago the GTBank notified me via sms that it would upgrade my mobile app automatically, I was waiting for that moment as they promised it would be a seemless process but here we are. They should look into it immediately before they loose customers”, he added.
Another GTBank customer on Twitter hinted that fraudster are already scamming unsuspecting individuals as a result.
“Fraudsters are exploiting GTBank’s new app problem to scam unsuspecting customers. I was nearly duped a while ago. Their Twitter handle (@__kgtbankhelp) has just been suspended. This is their phone number: +2349133458735.” He said
However, many of the bank’s customers resort to the USSD option or internet banking platform for their transactions with the hope that GTBank will wade in and provide quality service in earnest.
