The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has cautioned security operatives to be impartial during the forthcoming gubernatorial election and stated that the House of Assembly election is slated to be conducted next Saturday.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who doubles as chairman of the Kano Council of Emirs, gave the charge Tuesday when the Kano peace committee paid him a courtesy visit at his palace.
The monarch, who described peaceful coexistence as paramount for any societal development, admonished security personnel to carry out their primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the people without fear or favor in the interest of unity and brotherhood among the citizenry.
Turning to politicians, Aminu Bayero enjoined party flag bearers at all levels to consider Kano first and should not allow their personal interests to influence their political decision.
He said as faithful, we have a belief that leaders are God’s choice and predestined to steer the affairs of the people, hence the need to consider the election process as mere formalities.
The Royal Father advised the electorate to be law-abiding while exercising their franchise and vote for credible leaders of their choice, bearing in mind that life continues after polls.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero applauded the Kano state government and members of the committee for preaching peace to the public and reassuring them that the Kano Emirate will not relent in its efforts to support any move that will go a long way toward ensuring peace reigns supreme in Kano and Nigeria at large.
Earlier, the co-chairman of the committee, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, told the monarch that the outfit has set all machinery in motion to curtail public disturbances during and after this year’s election.
He assured that the committee will continue to partner with relevant stakeholders for a better result.
