One person was killed and another was injured after gunmen invaded Magamin Kano Village in Bauchi State’s Ningi Local Government Area on Monday.

The gunmen also stormed the home of the area’s Village Head, Alh. Bashir Abubakar, and abducted his wife and son to an unknown location, Punch reports.

According to a source, the gunmen shot and killed one person, while the injured person was shot in the thigh and is being treated at the Ningi General Hospital.

The traditional ruler was the primary target, but he was able to flee; however, his wife and son were not so fortunate.

After several hours of operation, the gunmen, who were numerous, took the Ningi forest route and fled.

As of the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, could not be reached for confirmation.

Gunmen recently invaded Kafin Lemo, broke into shops and houses, and carted away several valuables worth millions of Naira. In the process, they shot one person in the leg, Punch reports.

Many residents of Ningi LGA are now living in fear and panic as a result of recent gunman activities, which have continued unabated, with many people now afraid to go to their farms.

Residents in the area claimed that gunmen invaded and attacked a number of villages in Ningi LGA within the last month, killing two people and kidnapping several others.

They claimed that the kidnappers had received N50 million in ransom money from the families of their victims before releasing them.
