The Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) says it has trained 20,000 youth and women on various trades between 2019 and 2022.

PAWECA’s Head, Hajiya Aisha Bello disclosed this at a news conference in Yola on Friday.

She said the beneficiaries cut across the 21 local government areas of the state, adding that Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri had released N44 billion to facilitate smooth implementation of the programme within the periods under review.

According to her, the governor also released N22.5 billion for empowerment programme in 2023, stressing that the measure was to mobilise participation towards poverty reduction and unemployment in the state.

She said that more people would be exposed to solar power installation and maintenance, welding and fabrication, electrical repairs, building, blocks and interlock making among other skills.

She urged women to register with cooperative societies to enable them to access soft loans for successful businesses.
