A referral ambulance belonging to Augie local government area of Kebbi State primary healthcare department is currently lying waste at the mechanic workshop over allegations of the local government’s refusal to fix it with N40, 000.

According to our source, the ambulance is used for conveying of patients in critical condition within the local government or whose cases are beyond the capacity of the primary healthcare facility are transported with the same now grounded vehicle.

The Director, Primary Healthcare Department Augie local Malam Hussaini Liman who confirmed the allegations via telephone said that the local government had spent over a hundred thousand naira to fix the vehicle but is not functional as the mechanic told them they need to fix the sensor of the car.

He added that when they came on board they were able to fix at least four vehicles through contributions, on said ambulance liman said he didn’t know the whereabouts of the vehicle since its being handled by the local government senior driver.

“Where the referral ambulance is now I do not know, whether it’s in Sokoto mechanic or Birnin Kebbi I have no idea” he said, denying forty thousand as the reason for abandoning the ambulance said over a hundred thousand has been spent on the ambulance.

Liman was not able to say now with which ambulance is referral patients conveyed to secondary healthcare particularly those in critical condition.
