One of the distinguished personalities that received national honors recently, Baba Halilu Dantiye MON, MNI, FNGE has discussed with young Nigerians, especially journalists, in an event organized by the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) to mentor them on integrity.
The event which was hosted by the Coordinator of Community Network Project of CITAD, Haruna Hasan Hadejia in Kano on Monday to honor the elder statesman is intended to encourage young Nigerians o how to become exemplary citizens.
Addressing the gathering, Baba Dantiye described the best investments in life as hard work and integrity in order for one to ear himself respect.
“You should remain focused in whatever you do. You should be honest and respectful.
“I will advise you to target being a good man in the concept of the Hausa man. You know it is very difficult and takes a lot for a Hausa man to say you are a good man because you have to be morally upright and highly respected.
“Money is not everything even as you need money to do a lot of thing. You have to be determined, in my own case my friends use to call me the man with ruthless determination.
“For you to be listened to you have to be respected. So you have to earn yourself respect, when you are respected, people will listen to you” he advised.
Baba Dantiye grew to the peak in journalism profession where as an editor he led the Nigerian Guild of Editors, had served as the Chief Press Secretary to former Kano state governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, he also served as the Director General Media for Abdullahi Ganduje.
He had been nominated three times by the Guild for national honors in the past. He received the award of Member of the Order of the Niger, MON. He is currently the Editorial Board Chairman of Daily News 24.
